KATHLEEN KNAPP MCKNIGHT: worked for many years in Alaska as a Speech Pathologist and Preschool Special Educator, using American Sign Language to enhance learning for children with a wide variety of special needs. She is a Certified Practitioner of Yoga for the Special Child, a Yoga for Scleroderma Practitioner, and a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT 200) with Yoga Alliance. She first took yoga in the early 1990’s and in 2006 she began daily Hatha yoga practice as a way to heal from arsenic and heavy metals poisoning, and it’s treatment. The peace of mind, and sense of well-being she experienced led her to become a Certified Practitioner of Yoga for the Special Child with Sonia Sumar in 2009 with whom she continues her yoga education training. One of her deepest joys is in sharing the mind-body-spirit benefits of yoga with others. Kathleen teaches group beginning and intermediate Hatha Yoga, Yoga for the Special Child, as well as Yoga for adults with special needs and developmental delays at High Sierra Industries, in work settings, and assisted living centers.
