Yoga Nidra has come to be known as the yoga of sleep or yogic sleep. It is usually undertaken in Savasana or a simple resting pose. It can be practiced by anyone and is a supportive and nurturing practice which holds immense benefits for anyone who struggles with lack of quality sleep, burn-out, anxiety and/or trauma. The practice of Yoga Nidra allows one to experience the immense power of deep rest and surrender while awakening the mind to our essential nature; permitting us to seek clarity, a connection to our inner knowing, a deeper sense of peace and our purpose in this life. Yoga Nidra is the ultimate practice of non-doing. It has been claimed that 45 minutes of Yoga Nidra is equal to 3 hours of sleep.
